ITHOF? CT? Or SMLC? Boston Herald's summer bucket list will give you the low-down on each of these three great tennis tournaments. Pick up a copy today or check out their slideshow online.
Summer in New England is about as perfect as perfect gets, and an ideal time to hit the green mountains of Vermont. Take a boat out and fish on Lake Champlain, hike above the tree line to the top of Mount Mansfield, or play some of the most challenging mountain golf courses in the world. August 11 brings the Spruce Peak Folk Festival, a celebration of folk music, and from the 18th through the 20th you can see up and coming tennis stars at the Stowe Mountain Lodge Tennis Classic, headlined by 20-year-old phenom Frances Tiafoe. Relax between matches at the lodge’s brand-new beer garden with local craft beers, or hit the Linehouse, the best small-town bar in the state. The Best of Central Vermont magazine's feature covers the history, the concept, and the experience behind the Stowe Mountain Lodge Classic. Pick up a copy or check out the digital version here!
We were glad to see our Official Media Partner Seven Days include the Stowe Mountain Lodge Classic in their recent 2018 Summer Bucket List. We were tucked between the advice to apply sunscreen (noted) and the suggestion to take sailing lessons at the new sailing center in Burlington, and it got us thinking that the greater Stowe Mountain Lodge Classic community would make for a pretty fun summer hit list itself.
In no particular order, here is our first annual SMLC Summer Bucket List. Find a story on the Stowe Mountain Lodge Classic on page 92 of the 2018 Summer/Fall Stowe Guide and Magazine! Pick yours up in town or check out the digital version online.
The US Open warm-up event returns this August with an expanded draw and prize money.
STOWE, VT (May 1, 2018) — Professional tennis returns to Vermont for its second year as the Stowe Mountain Lodge Classic hosts some of the top men's tennis players coming to Stowe to prepare for the US Open, which takes place the following week in New York. The second-year event builds on the success of the 2017 tournament, won by world #22 Albert Ramos, and has continued its partnership with luxury mountainside community, Spruce Peak and Stowe Mountain Lodge, to host the eight-player exhibition event this August 18th–22nd. The Stowe Mountain Lodge Classic received USTA New England's 2017 Special Tennis Event of the Year award on January 20th, 2018 at the USTA New England Tennis Awards Ceremony in Marlborough, MA. Our team is dedicated to making this unique event an annual tradition, and to making it bigger and better each year. We're proud to have added to the tennis landscape in New England, as it's been our dream to bring pro tennis back to Vermont for a long while.
We're honored to accept this award—thank you!
