Our summer bucket list

6/1/2018

Comments

We were glad to see our Official Media Partner Seven Days include the Stowe Mountain Lodge Classic in their recent 2018 Summer Bucket List. We were tucked between the advice to apply sunscreen (noted) and the suggestion to take sailing lessons at the new sailing center in Burlington, and it got us thinking that the greater Stowe Mountain Lodge Classic community would make for a pretty fun summer hit list itself.

In no particular order, here is our first annual SMLC Summer Bucket List.

Sip a cocktail

Plan your visit to the WhistlePig Tasting Room and get to know WhistlePig by browsing fine handcrafted items, WhistlePig glassware, t-shirts and barrel-aged maple syrup (a fantastic cocktail ingredient), all while sipping drams of WhistlePig Rye.

Finish that project

r.k. Miles can help you plan, design and execute that project you've been meaning to get to. They truly do it all—they're helping us design and build our umpire chair! Drop by at one of their six convenient locations: Manchester Center, Middlebury, Morrisville, Stowe, Williamstown MA, & West Hatfield, MA.

Chill out with a cold one

With an amazing outdoor patio space, refreshingly cold craft beer, and great food, Idletyme Brewing Company is a star of summer in Stowe. The Official Idle Zone of the Stowe Mountain Lodge Classic is a must-see spot, and right off the Stowe Bike Path.

Throw some shade

The most popular options from Otter Creek Awnings include a motorized retractable awning, a stationary deck canopy and window awnings, all of which help you get more out of your home. As a locally owned small business, Otter Creek Awnings serves all of Vermont, Upstate New York, and parts of New Hampshire.

Refresh your wardrobe

Green Envy’s knowledgable, fashion-forward and friendly staff and stylists are always ready to help you find what you are looking for! Visit them in Stowe or shop online any time.

Take a bike trip

On the Sojourn Pro Tennis and Bike Trip you'll see beautiful scenery, visit a glassblowing studio, sip on craft beer, stay at the Lodge, and, of course, see some awesome tennis. Plus, you'll attend an exclusive 1-hour tennis clinic hosted by one of the SMLC pro players.

Get your infusion on

Whether it's a post-workout smoothie or your morning cup of coffee, treat your body to a CBD infusion from Elmore Mountain Therapeutics.

Power through a long hike

You shouldn’t have to sacrifice taste or enjoyment to eat healthy, functional energy-giving foods. Redd gives you the energy you need without having to compromise on taste. Our favorite: Mint Chocolate.

Put a ring on it!

You know what feels great? Shopping for holiday gifts in June. Visit a Von Bargens in Stowe, Burlington, Springfield, Stratton, and Hanover NH and beat the holiday pressure with their award-winning American artisan jewelry design.

Pick up a new podcast

It's the sound of SMLC Official Podcast partner Cracked Racquets, offering insightful and entertaining coverage, including a debate on 2018 SMLC Player Frances Tiafoe.

eAT MORE CHEESE

Four Cabot stores—in Cabot, Waterbury Ctr, Quechee, and Portland ME—are great for rainy days—and a mouthful of cheddar is the perfect snack during a changeover, so join us on Cabot Day at the SMLC (Sun August 19)!

jOIN A LEAGUE

USTA New England supports many tennis events in the New England area—including the SMLC—and they run leagues for us non-pros, too. They even hosted a summit meeting up here in Stowe this spring!

Explore spruce peak

Take in the Farmer's Market (every Friday starting June 29), enjoy world class music at the Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center and sip brews in the new beer garden, all in a day's work at Spruce Peak Village.

Stroll down PArk St

Stowe Vibrancy hosts a number of great events, including movie nights, Art on Park each Thursday, and a very popular Fourth of July parade and celebration!

Flag down an ice cream truck

Lake Champlain Chocolates has a new ice cream truck, which you'll find parked at the SMLC and elsewhere around Vermont during the summer. You can also stop by one of their Scoop Shops for an amazing cone.

Go out for dinner

Voted one of “America’s Most Romantic Restaurants” by Travel and Leisure, dining at the Mill in Quechee is the perfect way to experience Simon Pearce’s handmade glassware and pottery after watching it come to life in the workshop.

Watch Pro Tennis Live

Watch the best players in the world warm up for the last Grand Slam of the year—or meet them at the Player Party. (Or learn from and play with them at a clinic.) Whatever you choose, we'll see you in Stowe this August 18–22 for the Stowe Mountain Lodge Classic.
